Residential Garden Construction – Thrakomakedones

Curved garden edging and separators were used to shape the space, defining distinct functional zones while maintaining smooth visual continuity throughout the garden.

Spatial Design & Surfaces

All paths and circulation areas were constructed using permeable gravel surfaces, allowing effective rainwater infiltration and enhancing the environmental performance of the garden.

In selected pathways, reclaimed railway sleepers were incorporated, clearly defining movement routes and introducing a warm, natural wooden element that adds character and depth to the design.

Lawn & Functional Zones

A zone of natural fescue lawn was created between the main residence and the barbecue area, offering a comfortable and usable green space within the overall layout.

Planting Concept

The planting design is based on Mediterranean species, selected for:

• high resilience
• strong seasonal colour changes in both foliage and flowering
• suitability to local climatic conditions

A combination of structured plants and more free-form species, such as ornamental grasses, was used to create a carefully composed yet naturally relaxed aesthetic—an intentional balance between order and organic growth.

Several trees and fruit-bearing species were incorporated, all chosen to suit the site conditions and contribute to long-term sustainability.

Irrigation & Fertigation

Garden irrigation is predominantly subsurface, ensuring clean aesthetics and efficient water delivery.
The system includes:

• a fertigation unit with dosing pump by Tefen
• a mains-powered irrigation controller by Rain Bird, featuring remote control capability

This setup allows precise management of water and nutrients, maximizing plant performance and resource efficiency.
