Golden Hall 2017 – Outdoor Space Design

This project involved a large-scale promotional green installation, implemented in 2017 at Golden Hall shopping centre, transforming part of the central plaza into a fully functional green space for the spring and summer season.

Temporary Garden Installation – Golden Hall

Marousi | Year: 2017

Using ECOVERTI’s expertise, a temporary garden of approximately 120 m² was created directly on hard, inert surfaces (plaza paving), demonstrating how greenery can be successfully integrated into dense urban environments.

Design & Concept

The garden was designed with a soft mountainous character, defined by reclaimed railway sleepers, creating clear boundaries and a natural landscape feel within the commercial setting.

A central feature of the installation was a large natural lawn area, fully accessible and suitable for children’s play, offering an interactive and family-friendly green zone.

At the heart of the garden, two striking mandarin trees were combined with a water feature, forming a small pond planted with:

  • aquatic plants
  • irises
  • seasonal plantings

Planting & Seasonal Identity

The planting scheme included extensive seasonal species, aiming to:

  • deliver a strong spring identity
  • maintain an attractive green environment from Easter through to September
  • introduce a sense of nature and relaxation within the shopping centre

The installation functioned as a landmark feature, enhancing visitor experience throughout the summer months.

Project Character

This project is a representative example of:

  • temporary urban green interventions
  • transforming hardscaped plazas into living landscapes
  • using greenery as a tool for experience-driven placemaking
